So the summer of 2022 arrives. It should be a period of fun filled days with the kids enjoying the long summer holidays. Some how we did not get that memo.
The schools break up and Kate has already spent a good month in her bedroom after her GCSE’s
The others get to the end of term and then the carnage starts…
They are all abandoned and ignored at home for the first few weeks of hols as we are both working. Kate goes off to France 🇫🇷 with Bob for 10 days and I take the young ones to wales 🏴 for the rain. We got a few hours on the beach until the weather drove me to the red wine 🍷. Great to catch up with Nick, Pooley, Kate, Tay and Claire.
The focus then moved on to a full family holiday, this had not been attempted since just after Bunnygate ( bad accident on push bike)!
The idea was to try and get Tom over his fear of flying… well a lot of stress and pushing him into the plane, we got to Spain.
We have a few days of beach and pool then it was Gibraltar and Malaga exploring. Tom nailed the flight home with no probs. TFFT!
We had full On Brit abroad in his Greg’s outfit!
A few more days/ weeks passed. I was just juggling work and ignoring the kids. What seemed like a endless round of rows, scraps and tears.
At the end of the month Kate gets her GCSE’s results 8/9’s Nice one Kate 💕.
Wild wales 🏴 arrives always on the August bank holiday. I think I have ridden this as many times as the threepeaks the first time being when I was 14 which included the ride out and back.
2022 felt good, covid hopefully behind us and a weekend of cycling, fun and beer… in that order. Great route, company and weather was had.
School is now in sight...we squeeze in Ride the Lights, and a win at the Gritstone Grind.
Eventually after vowing to not try do another Summer like this one Back to school day arrives, which is also Toms birthday (which we all seemed to have forgotten about)
And breathe!!!
